CHALLENGES

The Hard Parts of Running a Security Competition

Most organizations hit the same practical difficulties while preparing an event.

Complex Environment Build

Challenge environments and target machine deployment involve a great deal of technical detail, which is hard to finish on schedule without dedicated staff.

Pressure on Technical Cover

Any platform or environment fault during the event needs an immediate fix, which places real demands on the team standing by.

Shortage of Good Challenges

Challenges have to match participant skill level and assessment goals, and writing them in-house is both time-consuming and hard to quality-control.

Value Lost After the Event

Without systematic analysis afterwards, the event yields no clear read on capability gaps or the talent pipeline.

SERVICE SYSTEM

Covering the Full Event Lifecycle

A standard five-stage service process with defined deliverables at every step.

01

Event Design

Define objectives, competition rules, participants, and schedule, and deliver a complete event plan.

02

Platform Deployment

Deploy the competition platform in the designated environment, with tuning and load validation.

03

Challenge Environment Build

Build challenges and target machines for the chosen format, verifying both function and difficulty.

04

Technical Assurance

Technical cover throughout the event, monitoring platform state and resolving incidents quickly.

05

Analysis and Summary

Deliver score summaries, submission breakdowns, and capability analysis in an event summary report.

CONTEST MODES

Support for Multiple Competition Formats

Choose the format based on participant skill level and what the event needs to measure.

CTF

The Jeopardy format, well suited to events with broad reach and large participant numbers.

  • Dynamic scoring
  • Automatic judging
  • Live leaderboard

AWD

Attack and defense together, testing exploitation and incident response as a whole.

  • Attack detection
  • Defense scoring
  • Live rankings

Red-Blue Exercise

Team-versus-team exercises that reproduce coordinated work under real attack and defense conditions.

  • Team adversarial play
  • Attack path analysis
  • Post-exercise review

Penetration Testing

Competition against a simulated production environment, close to real working conditions.

  • Vulnerability discovery
  • Exploitation
  • Risk analysis
WHY US

Technical Capability Behind a Successful Event

Whether an event runs smoothly comes down to platform stability and how fast issues get resolved.

On-Premise Deployment

The platform runs on the server environment you designate, with event data and participant information stored entirely locally.

High Concurrency

Optimized specifically for event peak load, supporting large numbers of concurrent participants and submissions.

Secure Isolation

Challenge environments run in isolated containers, preventing interference between participants and with the host environment.

End-to-End Service

Involved from solution design through to post-event analysis, not just handing over software.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About Competition Delivery

What does it take to host a CTF competition?
Six areas of preparation, typically: defining the objectives and participants; settling the rules and scoring model; preparing challenges with a sensible difficulty gradient; deploying the platform and completing testing; arranging judges and technical support; and planning the score reporting and summary afterwards. YQHL can take on the platform deployment, challenge environment build, and technical assurance, leaving the organizer to focus on objectives and coordination.
Which types of events can you deliver?
Four main formats are supported: CTF Jeopardy, AWD attack-and-defense, red-blue exercises, and full-scope penetration testing competitions. They can also be combined, for example a CTF qualifier followed by an AWD final. Knowledge-based quiz formats for security awareness are supported as well. We recommend a format based on participant skill level and what you want the event to measure.
Does the competition platform support on-premise deployment?
Yes. The platform deploys entirely onto the organizer’s own servers, whether that is a campus network server, a corporate intranet server, or a government network environment. Event data, participant information, and challenge content are all stored locally and never traverse an external network. For fully closed networks, offline deployment is also supported.
What event sizes does this suit?
Anything from a student club activity of a few dozen people to campus-wide or regional events of several hundred. Events up to 100 participants generally run on a single-node deployment. For 200 to 500 participants we recommend a multi-node deployment that separates platform services from challenge environments. Above 500 participants we carry out dedicated capacity planning and load testing. Specific server recommendations come during the solution discussion.
